This position supports the Accounting Manager in all aspects of accounting including but not limited to all day-to-day accounting functions, maintenance of general ledger, preparation of financial statements, compiling and monitoring of budgets, and management of the accounting team.  This role will also support our accounting operations by assisting in the oversight and management of our financial functions, ensuring compliance with regulations and accuracy in reporting.  This position requires strong accounting skills, management of people experience and can work well under pressure to meet deadlines and follow through on assignments.

Essential Functions:

  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of the organization and adherers to all organizational standards.
  • Prepare General Ledger journal entries and ensure accuracy before uploading in SAP.
  • Perform various balance sheet reconciliations at month-end and assist in various month-end close tasks as assigned.
  • Oversee accounts payable operations including accurate coding and entry of accounts payable invoices as well as overseeing the interfaces of expenses between costing software and SAP.
  • Oversee the system of internal controls over accounting functions to minimize risk.
  • Assist in hiring accounts payable staff and conduct performance evaluations.
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy.
  • Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures for all tasks related to accounts payable.
  • Responsible for managing the accounting payable staff across locations.
  • Implement training for new recruits and identify training and development for current staff.
  • Collaborate with the accounting team on various projects as needed.
  • Collect and analyze data to prepare requested monthly performance metrics.
  • Maintain a high level of accuracy.
  • Complete tasks within the allotted time frame.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • At least 3 years of experience in financial accounting, preferably in agribusiness.

The Senior Grow Finish Production Supervisor reports to the Director of Management Services and works from policies and general objectives approved by the management of Suidae Health & Production.

Essential duties & responsibilities include the following:

  1. Provide clear direction to Growers and Independent Contractors and timely constructive feedback on how to improve their performance and the farm’s productivity and profitability.
  2. Ensure all grow finish farms meet throughput and efficiency targets
    1. Percent pigs placed shipped to primary market
    2. Facility utilization
    3. Health program implementation
    4. Feed budget implementation
    5. Butcher marketing value optimization
  3. Grade newly purchased pigs upon arrival to sites.
  4. Select butchers and cull pigs to be marketed.
  5. Provide “cost control” oversight to ensure budgeted financial performance is being met
  6. Ensures that all environmental, herd health, biosecurity and animal care related regulations or policies are being followed by farm personnel.
  7. Ensures that facilities and equipment are properly maintained and kept clean, neat, and well-organized.
  8. Supports other SuidaeHP personnel with their responsibilities involving grow-finish farm management.
  9. Attend scheduled Suidae management meetings.
  10. Identifies ways for improving farm productivity and profitability, as well as improving Suidae’s management services.
  11. Utilizes data and science in decision making.
  12. Willing to perform miscellaneous tasks as needed.

Position Overview & Responsibilities: The Nutrition Manager leads and reviews feed formulation, formula audits, quality control improvements, and the development of optimal feeding programs. Collaborating with operations, vendors, and industry experts, this role drives research initiatives, leads nutrition-focused field trials, and translates findings into actionable strategies to enhance efficiency and maximize value. This role will also provide direct support to the Research Manager through input on research trials ideas, trial design, owning research diet formulation, and coordination support to the research feed mill as needed.

Major Areas of Accountability:

  • Audit all formulas for all mills on a weekly basis to validate correct nutrient and ingredient levels with support of Nutrition and QC specialist
  • Lead quarterly nutrition formulation audit to evaluate consistency in formulas and identify opportunities for future research needs with collaboration of Nutrition and QC Specialist.
  • Review optimal feeding program options through modeling on a quarterly or as needed basis based on input received on ingredient costs, hog value, barn space availability and operations team
  • Create and own the continuous improvement of the internal quality control program including too but not exclusive: further refinement in use of in-house NIR, developing addition routine testing, further refinement on complete feed validation.
  • Partner with Live Operations on nutrition related issues and opportunities for improvement are identified
  • Own relationships with vendors which includes screening products, setting up meetings with appropriate individuals when deemed appropriate, providing feedback, identifying opportunities that should be explored
  • Lead QC mill audits in collaboration of the QC specialist and/or feed order manager or supply chain manager
  • Proactively seeks current and relevant research literature that may provide solutions or areas of opportunity to explore with future research
  • Proactively collaborates with experts within the nutrition field which include but not limited to: Universities, fellow expert nutritionists in industry, Triumph members, and suppliers
  • Owns formulation for Research and as needed provide support research in the following areas: weigh and tag pigs, trial design and setup, input on summary and input on statistics
  • Participate in quarterly research meetings by providing thought provoking ideas, deep discussion of trial design and treatments, and strategic direction of research within Christensen Farms
  • Leads nutrition focused field trials in collaboration with Research Manager

Education, Training, and Experience Requirements:

Education: PhD in Animal Science with a focus in Swine Nutrition is preferred. MS in Animal Science with a Nutrition focus will be considered for individuals with extensive working history and nutrition knowledge.

Experience: 3 (+) years’ experience in swine nutrition is preferred with PhD. 6(+) years’ experience in swine nutrition is preferred with MS.

Highly functional in Microsoft applications including Excel, Word.
