Program Coordinator 1

About this Job:

Animal Science is currently accepting applications for a Program Coordinator to be the primary contact for a large, externally funded research grant directed at improving feed efficiency in swine. Position will also be responsible for the related extension component of the grant. Key responsibilities include the communications related to marketing of information developed by the grant. Examples include: circulation of oral presentations by means of website updates; development of PowerPoint presentations, news releases, promotional materials for events such as conferences and seminars; writing sophisticated reports for submission to agencies; and reviewing and interpreting scientific research materials in order to adapt to lay-language materials. Develop, implement and update a unique website that will include extension and research results of the project. Design fact sheets for maximum audience appeal and high quality content, style and presentation. Arrange for publication and distribution to target audiences.

Plan four major conferences for large groups in locations both in the U.S. and internationally, to include contract negotiations for conference facilities, lodging, meals, and registration details. Develop and prepare budgets; establish time lines; apprise the faculty project manager of progress, delays, or other problems including on subcontracts; and advise and implement any changes or solutions.

The successful candidate will have the ability to leverage subject-matter knowledge with strong communication, interpersonal, and project coordination skills to include the ability to multitask. The position may require additional hours and some travel.

Requirement:

Required Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree and two years of related work experience, or a Master’s degree and related experience or a combination of related education and experience totaling 6 years. Experience must be at a comparable level and directly related to the duties of this position.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Animal Science or Agricultural Communications.
Experience in an educational environment.
Experience with USDA granting agencies.
Experience with accounting.
Experience in website oversight and content management.
Demonstrated knowledge of the pork industry and pork production.
Experience with MS Word, MS PowerPoint and MS Excel.
